Betty Jean Ballast, aged 93, of Grand Rapids, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 3, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard who passed in 1982, her parents Abraham and Hattie Vander Beek, and her sister Eleanor. She is survived by her children Jill and Fred Prose of Phoenix, AZ, Amy and Mark Lang of Grandville, MI, and Ruth McGlynn of Pompano Beach, FL. She is also survived by her grandsons Scott Lang and Brad and Yarizeth Prose, and two great grandsons Braxton and Zachariah. She loved the Lord and was very active in her church, Alger Park CRC, where she was a member for 69 years. She led her family by Christian example. She loved being a teacher at North Godwin for over 25 years and enjoyed all the friendships she made there well into retirement. The family wishes to thank Emmanuel Hospice and Vista Springs for their loving care of our Mom. Betty's family will greet visitors at Zaagman Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 6th at 10 AM.
