Bernard Douglas Pruis (82) passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2024 with his loving wife, Joan, by his side.Born June 14th, 1942 to Bernice and Jay Pruis, Bernard ("Bernie") lived his young life in Morrison, IL alongside many of his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends nearby. He is survived by his two siblings, Melvin Pruis and Nylene Nol. After choosing to quietly serve his country in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany, Bernie chose to reside in Grand Rapids, MI. It was here that he found his passion working for the Postal Service. Through God's providence, it was also here that led Bernie to find and marry his beloved wife of 33 years. Bernie had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and patient. He was clever and full of knowledge gained through all of his life experiences and his love for reading. He will be remembered for the heart he shared with his friends and family and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday September 5, 2024 at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
