Benjamin Falb Gates, 20, beloved son of Brent and Rebecca Gates, went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 21, 2025, after a tragic motorcycle accident. His sisters, Anneka (Salvador) Lopez, 26, Allison Gates, 24, and Maya Gates, 22, miss their little brother terribly.

Benjamin was born in Concord, MA, and moved with his family to Ada, MI, when he was in third grade. He graduated from Forest Hills Eastern High School and went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. From a young age, Benjamin loved math and discovering what made everything tick. In middle and high school he spent as many hours as possible designing, building, and competing in FIRST robotics. He also loved 3D printing, playing in the marching and jazz bands, and hugging his dog. He was known for his kindness, patience, humor, and willingness to help anyone.

Besides his immediate family, Benjamin is survived by his grandparents, Richard and Margaret Falb, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 107 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and a luncheon will follow the service. The service will be live streamed at https://lagrave.org/live/.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Benjamin's high school robotics team, the Forest Hills COMETS 3357. The team's Venmo account is Tim-Peterson-3357. In the "What's this for?" line, note "Ben Gates Memorial Fund."
