Barbara J. Bacon, age 93, passed away on Monday September 22, 2025 in Grand Rapids, MI, surrounded by loving family. Born on June 30, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MI, Barb was the child of Frances & J.L. Bacon, who preceded her in death.

Barb attended South High School and later graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Education. Barb went on to teach at Alger Elementary until her retirement.

Barb had a lifelong thirst for knowledge and even took enrichment classes well after she completed her schooling at Michigan State. Barb had a love for animals, and especially her faithful canine companion, Sissy.

Barb loved watching Michigan State sports and Detroit Lions football. She was an avid antique collector and seller, and a seasoned world traveler having visited several countries in Europe. Barb was a member of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids.

Barb is survived by first cousins Nancy (John) Richard & Jill (Sidney) Hoogerhyde as well as many other loving cousins, and her close friend/caregiver Candy Laster.

A visitation will be held at Zaagman Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 25 from 6-8pm. The funeral service at Zaagman will be held at 11am on Friday September 26 with a visitation an hour prior.
