On Sunday January 23, 2022, our creator called Ardie Lee Burger Jr home. He was affectionately known as AJ by his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to Sophia and a father to Latasha, Ardie III (Butrica), Eric, and Nimmesia. He loved and adored his family, especially his grandchildren Willie, Jaylin, Kiarah, Lilyanna, and Eriella. He knew his purpose in life was to help awaken others to the truth of God. AJ was born to his father Ardie Sr and mother Irma on July 14, 1958, in Chicago, IL. They moved to Grand Rapids, MI, when AJ was 1 year old, where he and siblings were raised and later attended Alexander and Oakdale Christian elementary schools. He then attended Grand Rapids Christian High School where he found his love of sports. In 1981 AJ met his wife Sophia and married her the following year. He gave his life to Yeshua in 1988, was baptized by Pastors Dante Venegas and David Beelen, and made Madison Square his church home. AJ worked in the manufacturing industry most of his career and retired from Amway after 25 years of service. In his latter years he started a small business selling his father's BBQ sauce. He enjoyed sports A LOT (GO BLUE)! AJ was very competitive and would take wins and losses to heart. He enjoyed hanging out with his sons, brother, nephews, and friends at sporting events. He loved teaching others about the true story of Yeshua and was never afraid to speak from the heart. He shared the goodness of the Lord and the transformation of his life to others readily and openly. He is preceded in death by his parents Ardie and Irma, brother Anthony Nichols, sister Audine Buchanan, nephew Antoine Nichols, and great-nephew Da'Quan Nichols. AJ is survived by his wife Sophia, his children, his grandchildren, his siblings Pamela (Fred) Spearman, Chaya Burger, Crystal Witherspoon, Brian Burger, and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Madison Square Church on Saturday, February 5, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 AM.
