Obituary

On August 3,1955 the glory of God was displayed in the birth of Anthony C. Greene, and God said, "It is good." He was born into the home of Dr. Alfonzo Greene, Sr. and Estella Gully Greene. Country living enthralled Anthony during his early years in the Niles Michigan area. His family moved to Berrien Springs in 1963. His family also lived in Huntsville, Alabama on multiple occasions. This afforded Anthony a myriad of lifelong friends from different regions of the country. The strong pursuit of advanced higher education in his family of origin, encouraged his natural quest for knowledge in many areas. Working with his father building houses gave Anthony lifelong building skills which he often utilized.

Anthony matriculated through school attending Oakwood University. It was there he first used his technical skills in computers and was sought out by faculty and staff to set up computers, develop computer systems and solve computer problems. His skill and expertise in computers opened opportunities for him which led to him becoming a computer analyst for NASA. Anthony became an expert in the computer systems involved with the Space Shuttle. Some of his accomplishments during his computer career included testing and verifying the interfacing of experiments to the Space Shuttle Spacelab Experimental Computer, and he was instrumental in the design, development, and interface of several experiments flown on the Space Shuttle.

From an early age Anthony was active in Pathfinders. Anthony often said his involvement with and love for Pathfinders kept him in relationship with the body of Christ. Anthony has been actively involved with many Pathfinder clubs and has always been supportive of Pathfinder Ministries . Anthony received his Master Guide certification with Pathfinders. His lifelong photography passion was ignited in Pathfinders.

In September of 1990 Anthony enrolled in the University of Notre Dame Law School and completed his Juris Doctor degree in 1993. He started practicing law in Grand Rapids, MI with Legal Aid of Western Michigan. Anthony's passion for helping people was the driving force of his law practice. In 1996 Anthony started his own law firm to provide legal services. His law practice focused on criminal defense and social justice issues, although he facilitated whatever legal needs with which his clients presented, and needed dedicated and expert legal representation. Attorney Greene understood that his legal expertise would be useful in promoting Religious Liberty. He was involved in advising on Religious Liberty matters for his Church, Conference and to various constituencies. Attorney Greene served on the State Bar of Michigan Criminal Law Section Committee for several years. He was also an active member of the ACLU of Western Michigan. Anthony also was a member of the Floyd Skinner Bar Association.

Anthony leaves to mourn his death, the love of his life for 30 years, his wife, Yvonne Darby Greene, his children, Elyse Greene and James Greene; his mother, Estella Greene, his siblings, his nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Anthony, like his son Christopher, has fought the good fight, he has finished the course, he has kept the faith… and a crown of glory awaits this soldier of Jesus Christ. Let us all be ready to be caught up together with Anthony and Christopher in the air to meet Jesus when He comes again!
