Scaglione
Jun 13, 1930 — May 30, 2026
Anita "Kathleen" Scaglione, age 95, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is survived by her two children, Michael J. Scaglione (Valerie) and Kathleen M. Scaglione; six grandchildren, Samantha Scaglione, Kylie Scaglione, Nicole Scaglione, Jake Reeves (Evelyn), Morgan Davis, and Madison Davis; two great-grandchildren, Wilder Reeves and Jesse Reeves. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Marie (Mattei) Memmo.
She was born on June 13, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York. As a young woman, she worked as a fashion model for prestigious New York City department stores before building a career in human resources at Stony Brook University (SUNY). She loved horses and dogs, the performing arts, beachside vacations, and trips to Italy, always seeking beauty, adventure, and new experiences.
Kathleen had the gift of hospitality. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of classic Italian meals. She was an exceptional cook who believed that gathering around the table was one of life's greatest blessings.
A true artist at heart, she expressed her creativity through painting, knitting, jewelry-making, and countless other crafts. She loved creating beautiful things and sharing them with others.
Kathleen will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her deep faith in Jesus Christ, and her loving heart. She treasured her family beyond measure, deeply valued her friendships, and delighted in making each day a little brighter for those around her.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the church community and skilled nursing staff who welcomed her with compassion and enriched her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Church Grand Rapids for its Senior Ministries program and to Porter Hills Village for its Employee Foundation Fund.
