Obituary

Amelia "Amy" Catherine (Spring) Peterson was called home by her Lord Jesus Christ on June 27th, 2026. Amy was born on October 2nd, 1984. She was baptized on November 18th, 1984, at the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was confirmed in 8th grade at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson where she was a member until transferring to Our Savior Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids, MI.

Amy attended Trinity Lutheran School, Jackson from Kindergarten through 8th grade and then Jackson Public High School where she graduated Valedictorian. After high school, Amy continued her education at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Amy began attending Our Savior Lutheran Church when she was a student at Calvin College. Shortly after graduating Amy met her husband Timm while teaching Sunday School. Together at Our Savior they were married, sang in the choir, continued to teach Sunday School, and lead the Youth Group.

In addition to volunteering at church, Amy began her post-college career at Fifth Third Bank as a personal banker and was quickly promoted to branch manager. During her time there, she served the communities of Hastings, Wyoming, Byron Center, and Hudsonville, MI. Amy stepped away from banking in 2013 due to the compounding effects of her cancer and treatments.

It was in the library at Our Savior Lutheran School where Amy found new purpose. She lovingly served as volunteer librarian until her passing. She encouraged the same love of reading, instilled in her by her teachers, to numerous children throughout her time as librarian.

Amy was proceeded in death by her grandfather, Samuel N. Spring, grandparents, Lawrence Sr and Dolores Bos; parents, James and Mary Ellen (Bos) Spring; her aunt, Sandra Duyst; and her mother-in-law, Linda Peterson.

Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Timm Peterson; sister, Allison (Jeremy) Hedrick; grandmother, Virginia Spring; stepmother, Sherri (May) Spring; Erica Duyst and Timothy (Kristina) Duyst; stepbrothers Tom (Katie) Reed and Jacob (Jessica Jeppesen) Reed; her aunts and uncles, Robert (Lynette) Spring, Tom (Traci) Spring, Rick (Joy) Spring, David (Tracy) Spring, Kathy Spring, Laura (Larry) Van Popering, and Larry Jr (Dawn) Bos. Amy is also survived by her father-in-law and brothers and sisters-in-law Steven, Todd (Amy) Peterson, Matt (Heather) Peterson, Betsy Peterson, Andrew (Heather) Peterson, and Stephen (Katie) Peterson.
