Alma Joyce Walhout, age 96, of Florida formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022, with family by her side. She is survived by Nancy (Paul Deceased) Recker, Mary (Dave) Thornton, Ruth Jones, Jim (Cheryl) Walhout, Beth (Bob) Banning; 12 grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; and her sister, Lois Grinwis. Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin; brother, Joseph (Doris) Danhof Jr., brother-in-law, Bob Grinwis. At age 15 Alma had a ruptured appendix and was near death. When she returned to school several months later, she met her future husband, Edwin, who she was seated next to. She was busy raising her children and active in church activities while Edwin served as Pastor for various CRC congregations. After most of her children were grown, Alma went to work as a secretary for Calvin College English department, where she spent many years. Alma was always busy and loved to host friends and family for meals and just spending time together and playing games. She exemplified the virtues spoken of in Proverbs 31. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10-11AM with the memorial service at 11AM at Calvin CRC (700 Ethel Ave SE).
