Allen F. Thayer, 74, of Grand Rapids passed away on June 6, 2025. He was born in South Bend, IN to the late Francis and Elizabeth Buetler Thayer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane (Ken) Young.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Thayer; Their son, Joseph (Jennifer) Thayer; Granddaughters, Hailey and Avery Thayer; Brother, Doug (Michelle) Thayer; As well as many nieces and nephews.

Allen attended grade school in Dearborn, Michigan after the family had moved from South Bend and eventually made his way to Cadillac, where he graduated from Cadillac High School.

Allen was a gifted musician and he enjoyed playing the Blues and BlueGrass Music, making many appearances at festivals and clubs. He was a hockey player in his younger days. He ran in the Old Kent River Bank Run that is now called Amway River Bank Run and enjoyed riding his bike. He had a special liking for literature and the arts and he personified passion with the way he took on life. He was a grandfather that loved his granddaughters, Hailey and Avery so very much and along with the rest of Allen's family and friends, will miss him so very much.

A time for celebration of Allen's life will take place on Saturday June 21, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
