Alice
Sides
Jun 9, 1928 — Mar 26, 2026
Alice R. Sides, 97, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 26, 2026. Alice was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 9, 1928, to Clarence and Rose Lundberg. She trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 12, and grew in her faith as she attended Mission Covenant Church. She graduated from Union High School in Grand Rapids in 1946. She met Warren Sides at church and married him on September 6, 1947. They were married for 49 years, until he passed away in 1996. Together they raised 4 children.
Alice devoted her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom until she went to work at American Actuaries and retired after 24 years. As grandchildren came along, Alice and Warren loved spending time with them, often taking them on vacations. She and Warren were founding members of Crossway Community Church, where they faithfully served all their lives. Alice was known for her prayers and her generosity with her family and many Christian ministries. She was an avid reader and loved Christian music. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Words With Friends on her iPad.
Alice was preceded in death by her sons, Richard Sides and David Sides, and sister, Cynthia Melon. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Richard) McEvoy and Jane Tucker, and daughter-in-law, Lori Sides; grandchildren, Steve (Debbie) McEvoy, Kirstin (Ryan) Bare, Ben (Megan) McEvoy, Rich Tucker, Justin (Tricia) Sides, Melissa Humphrey, Austin (Morgan) Sides, and Allison Sides; 22 great grandchildren; cousin, Donna (Mel) Peterson, and friend, Richard Ritsema.
