Obituary

Alco "Duke" Haga, a treasured soul known for his friendly demeanor and generosity, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, in Grand Rapids, MI, at the age of 77. Duke was born on February 7, 1948, in Blije, Friesland, Netherlands.

Duke's life was a testament to the value of hard work and dedication. For 39 years, he worked for Amway, the majority of which were spent as a truck driver. He was respected for his work ethic and commitment to safety. His colleagues will remember him as someone who could lighten the mood with a well-timed joke, making even the longest hauls feel shorter.

Beyond the roads he traveled for work, Duke's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife, Judy Haga. Together they raised two wonderful children, Scott Haga and Julie Green, who inherited their father's humor and generous spirit. He was also very proud of his grandson, Mark Haga.

After retirement, Duke enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee and lively conversation. This continued after he moved to Porter Hills, where he continued to meet with friends for coffee. He also enjoyed helping the staff deliver newspapers and other items to residents, as well as the opportunity to socialize while riding his scooter throughout the building.

His stories and laughter will echo in the lives of those he touched. As we bid farewell to Alco "Duke" Haga, we celebrate the richness he brought to our world and the love he shared with others.

Duke's life will be honored in a private ceremony, as per his wishes.
