Dr. Albert John Stryker went to be with his Lord and Savior a few days short of his 97th birthday on August 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; parents, John and Jane Stryker; and brother, Gerald Stryker. Al will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susan (Jim) Atkinson, and Douglas Stryker; grandchildren, Jennifer Atkinson, Daniel Atkinson; and brother, George Stryker. Al was an ardent lover of the outdoors, with fishing and family camping trips being among his favorite pastimes. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, Detroit Tigers, and MSU sports. His love for travel took him and Norma to many interesting destinations. Al was a proud WWII Navy veteran. He attended Calvin College, graduated from Loyola University with a D.D.S. Al's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a longtime member of Fifth Reformed Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 14 at Fifth Reformed Church (2012 Griggs St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506) with Rev. Jon Sherrill officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (10:00 – 11:00 am).
