E. Leonard Galloway, aged 84, joined his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2010. Len was born in Huron, South Dakota, served in WWII in the Army Air Corp, and after marrying the love of his life in 1954, Len together with Orpha, moved to Grand Rapids, MI in 1956 in order for Len take on his new role as the Founding Executive Director of Junior Achievement of Grand Rapids. He also served as Regional Director for Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance Co. Len pursued various other entrepreneurial endeavors throughout his career, many encompassing his life-long passion for aviation. Len co-chaired the air-show celebration for launching the opening of the Kent County International Airport. He also hand-built numerous experimental aircraft in the family basement, including several actual replicas of WWII fighter planes. Len faithfully served in various leadership capacities at Calvary Baptist Church for nearly 40 years and continued worshipping the Lord at First Baptist Church in Middleville in his final years. One of Len’s most passionate ministries was singing inspirational music as a soloist and additionally with Orpha and occasionally with his great friend Bob Halka at various churches, weddings, funerals, and community events. Len served on the support teams of 24 choir and choral missions tours for Cornerstone University. Len is survived by his wife of 55 years, Orpha; his three sons Todd (Judi), Spence (Sonya) and Clark (Debbie); nine treasured grandchildren, Alecia, Carson, Amy, Paige, Kendall, Corrine, Brooke, Jordan, and Luke; his sister Paula Seipel, his brother-in-law Myron Fahrenwald (Joanie), sisters-in-law Ardis Ostrom (Lloyd), and Helen Wells (Ray); and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at First Baptist Church of Middleville at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 4th followed by visitation and a luncheon. Memorials may be made to the Galloway Music Scholarship at Cornerstone University.
