Ensing – Raymond Arthur Ensing, aged 81, entered eternal life from home on Monday, December 21, 2009. He graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High and served with the US Navy. He was an avid bicycle racer and rider, having ridden across the United States and Australia and many shorter trips in Iowa, Michigan, and Florida. He was a member of the Rapid Wheelman Bicycle Club. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and canoeing. Some of his favorite times were spent with friends and family at HIS cabin in the Upper Peninsula – hiking, snowmobiling, and 4 wheeling. He was a gifted carpenter and helped many people with their projects. After retirement he found his niche helping to build and establish the second hand store, New 2 You. His many talents and hours worked there helped it become a success. Ray celebrates Christmas in heaven with his brother Ken and his son Steve. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doreen, his children, Wendy and Joel Veldheer, Raym and Liz Ellis, Deb and Mark Gabites, Ross and Erni Ensing, Jeff and Sara Gregory; 7 grandchildren, Ross and Sara, Jana, and Laurie, Wyatt, Jordan, Emma, and Cory; and two sisters, Vera and Nels DeVries and Marilyn and Duke Bazuin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Plymouth Heights Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Steve DeVries officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The New 2 You Store or a charity of one’s choice.
