Obituaries

VERSLUYS - Evelyn (Hubers) Versluys, age 88, of Grand Rapids, went to her heavenly home, on Sunday, July 29, 2012 and was greeted by her husband Jack, daughter Mary Ellen DeZeeuw, brothers Donald and Gerald Hubers and nephew Tim Hubers. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Susan Versluys and Judy (Gary) Mast, son John (Toni) Versluys, son-in-law Rick DeZeeuw, grandchildren Bryan (Miranda) DeZeeuw, Greg (Rhonda) DeZeeuw and Jen (Chris) Rushlo, great-grandsons Sebastian and Nicholas DeZeeuw and Gavin Rushlo, sister Marge Cappendyk, sister-in-law and dear friend Doris Hubers and many special nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister and committed friend. A bookkeeper and office manager throughout her working life, Evelyn was an active volunteer after her retirement, and served as treasurer for several of the organizations with which she volunteered. An avid reader and learner, she also enjoyed participating in the CALL program at Calvin College. She faithfully attended Shawnee Park CRC for over fifty years, where she was an active member of the Women’s Fellowship and a regular volunteer with Coffee Break and the WOW ministry program. All will miss her. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel. The family will greet friends and relatives Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Please consider memorial contributions to CRWRC or to Faith Hospice.
