Darden– Mrs. Merle J. (Telgenhoff) Darden, of Ada, age 84, went to be with our Lord on July 8, 2012. She was preceded in death by her dedicated husband of 54years, Mr. Douglas B. Darden, Jr.; beloved son Douglas B. Darden III; Sharon Vasilnek, mother of their two boys; brother-in-law William “Sully” Darden; niece Virginia “Ginger” Darden; father and mother George and Marie (Fox)Telgenhoff; and brother George Telgenhoff. Merle is survived by her loving daughter and best friend Robin, and her daughter Stephanie; Douglas J. Darden and William B. Darden, to whom she was guardian. Her life was her family and her golden years were not spent on vacations but tending to what mattered to her most, family. The last twenty-five years she remained steadfast and true to her three grandchildren. The time and love she devoted, words will not justify. She gave her all and for her, it was never enough. After being given the diagnosis, she said “I can’t be sick, I have to stay here and take care of my family”.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:30pm at Ada Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel from 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to William Darden for college expenses (please mail to the funeral chapel).
