Mary E. Versprille [07/18/1917 - 02/15/2012]

http://zaagman.com/pages/show_content.php?siteid=46&action=1&value=12&obituaries_action=2&obituaryid=115261

Mary E. Versprille, aged 94, passed away February 15, 2012. A remarkable life lived on her terms during extraordinary times. That describes the life of Mary Elizabeth Versprille. She lived through the Great Depression, wars, booms and busts, poverty and plenty, all the while going about the business she was born to do - be a help mate to her husband of 66 years, a mother to two daughters, a friend, confidante, critic, and observer of life. Mary was born with little which taught her the value of anything that came her way. She never sought nor enjoyed the spotlight but preferred the spotlight to shine on others. Her wise counsel was sought by many - especially her children and grandchildren. Her wit was sharp to the end - laughter really was the path to her soul. She had a life-long love of animals and always stopped to pet and care for the dogs and cats that crossed her path. This celebrates Mary's life as a woman of courage, humility, determination, and love. Her accomplishments are great but it's her character that leaves a lasting reminder of a life well lived. " Well done, good and faithful servant. " And God will open wide the gates of heaven for you to enter into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." - 2 Peter 1:11. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Maynard, her parents, Clinton and Alice Williams and her sister, Leah and Fred Warnars. She is survived by her two daughters, Lynne Goede and Laurie (Andy) Oleniczak and two grandchildren, John (Elizabeth) Goede and Mary (David) McAuliffe. Funeral services will be held Saturday 3:00 p.m. at Fifth Reformed Church with Rev. Jon Sherrill officiating. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions in Mary's name may be given to the Humane Society of Kent County.
Just in sight of the place where the path meets the road
The Father is waiting to carry your load
His big arms are longing to draw you to Him
Forgiven, Forgiven, Forgiven again.

She was born on July 22, 1914 in rural Edgerton, Minnesota, the youngest of ten children born to Albert and Helen (Baker) Tinklenberg and outlived all her siblings and their spouses. She and Lucas lived in Edgerton where he was a cobbler. Following Lucas’s death in 1951, Gert remained in Edgerton, working in a bakery and drug store, selflessly providing her children a Christian home, church and an education at Edgerton Christian Schools. They shared a rich life together for 33 years. Actively involved at Alger Park CRC, Gert was a faithful member of Priscilla Guild.
